a spot over here

One Saturday morning, when we couldn't do what we normally do due to no gas = no showers or cooking, we decided to have a coffee and breakfast at a little spot we had eyed off less than 5 mins from home. Campos coffee and enthusiastic baristas meant our main priority was covered... however the atmosphere here was what had me enthralled!

Quirky, eclectic, random, this place had it all. Too much? Hard to say, when you are so busy trying not to miss something gorgeous or delightful in every nook, do you think you would really care? Being vintage obsessed, I was just happy to be sitting in an old cool chair (albeit we sat at a kids table for max so was a little squashy hehe our choice!) with a funky 70's coffee table surrounded by lamps and lighting from an era ago, watching my son discover typewriters, deer heads, forgotten children's trikes bikes cars and toys!

Sunny Day

Good day to you! It is a gorgeous day here on the Mornington Peninsula. The kind that makes you wish it would stay like this forever. We went for an afternoon jaunt down to Mornington this afternoon and I wore some of my latest Op shop finds so thought I'd share a few snaps.

Scored these Veronica Maine pants at a great Salvo's store.
I love Veronica Maine and in addition they have useless zips on the sides, of which I'm rather fond.
I found the zig-zaggy wedges in the same shop as well as a 70's maxi skirt which I will show you all
once I get it hemmed.

The top is vintage Witchery which I think I bought for the ludicrous sum of $2 a few years ago. Head scarf and bracelets are thrifted also.

Cheesy grins with my fave guy.

Also, here is a friendly shark.

For ye are living poems...

Come to me, O ye children !
For I hear you at your play,
And the questions that perplexed me
Have vanished quite away.

Ye open the eastern windows,
That look towards the sun,
Where thoughts are singing swallows
And the brooks of morning run.

In your hearts are the birds and the sunshine,
In your thoughts the brooklet's flow,
But in mind is the wind of Autumn
And the first fall of the snow.

Ah ! what would the world be to us
if the children were no more ?
We should dread the desert behind us
Worse than the dark before.

What the leaves are to the forest,
With light and air and food,
Ere their sweet and tender juices
Have been hardened into wood,

That to the world are children ;
Through them it feels the glow
Of a brighter and sunnier climate
Than reaches the trunks below.

Come to me, O ye children !
And whisper in my ear
What the birds and the winds are singing
In your sunny atmosphere.

For what are all our contriving's
And the wisdom of our books,
When compared with your caresses,
And the gladness of your looks ?

Ye are better than all the ballads
That ever were sung or said ;
For ye are living poems,
And all the rest are dead.

Everybody's favorite lady

I recently sent off this commission piece to its happy new owner.
This is the fifth drawing of Audrey I have drawn and sold, with another commission now underway. This made me think today of just how very special she was. Her loveliness never fades.
What's your favorite Audrey film? I'm a sucker for Sabrina.
That black and white Givenchy dress! Le sigh!

To make a home out of a rented house

Hello everybody! Wow, its been a long time since I've posted here!
Our move was successful, we are now living on the very lovely Mornington peninsula in Victoria.
We are 5 minutes from the beach, a short drive to scenic wine regions with rolling green hills and a 45 minute drive to Melbourne city. Its pretty good!
I'd like to show you a few snippets of our new home.

Green isn't the first colour I would choose for our living area but I'm quite pleased with how well our things fit in here. It's a lovely little space with nice tallish ceilings and an abundance of sunshine.

Our previous kitchen was dark, small and dingy so it is an absolute dream to have a nice big kitchen now with lots of cupboard and bench space!

We are mostly unpacked but I am yet to set up the spare bedroom/painting room. There is also a rather ugly red wall in the bedroom that I am hoping to paint soon. Will keep you posted :)

Heart. Home.

Everytime I walk into Omi's place I feel nostalgic. Being only a few suburbs away from the only home I knew my Nanna in, it's no surprise with a feel of days past, this home sends me into flashbacks of the adventures we had at her place. Love it.
