Please excuse me as I be annoying and gush over my cat

Hamlet likes to choose 'a spot'. This will be his spot for between 2-6 days.
He then tires of it and chooses a new spot.
Today's new spot....

Suitably unimpressed at being awoken for photographs.

Sniffing this succulent and then giving it some cheek-swipe-love was about the
full extent of his days activities.

Its a hard life.

Date day

Zen and I had a lovely day out together last weekend. We headed up to the Adelaide hills for some wineries, lunch and a vintage shop stop. Despite wind and rain it was perfect! I should start by introducing you to the hydrangeas that my darling husband brought home for me the night before

Are they not the most beautiful hydrangeas ever?!
They were so nice to wake up to!

So we started the day with pancakes of course.

Hamlet stayed home and took some much needed rest
read- sarcasm

So. Cute.

We stopped for some succulent strawberries  to munch on the way.
I love that honesty boxes are still able to function.

What I wore~

The top is an op shop find from ages ago but up until now I've never had pants to wear it with. I nabbed these vintage high-waisted pants from a Salvo's last week for $2.50!
Not too shabby.

Marquisette bow brooch and antique cutlery brooch were both gifts. We bought the ring from a market in Melbourne and it is made from an old fork

We nabbed some blood oranges from a tree we passed by

and had yummy gluten free sweet potato chips for lunch

One of my favorite little vintage shops is Magnolia at Oakbank

You're sure to find something special here. I really wanted that giant cushion made from vintage curtain fabric. So pretty!

Last stop was a winery whose doors I just loved!

I bought this faux fur wrap at an Oppie for $3! It so nice for when its just a bit chilly.

Zen being the Bonsai enthusiast that he is had to stop and take some photos of this old Gum Tree

It doesn't really know what its doing. I love how resilient Gums are.
We found 2 more honesty stalls on the way home and picked us up some zucchinis and a bunch of spinach the size of my torso. And best of all... these 2 bunches of lillies for only $5!!
We got really wet collecting them but somehow that made them all the more sweet.

I'm so used to the white lillies in my garden that each time I look at these I get the impression they are blushing. Aren't they delightful?!

We listened to Lois Armstrong as we flittered from place to place so I shall leave you with the opening lyrics to Jeepers Creepers as I thought they were fitting

Now, I don't care what the weather man says
When the weatherman says it's raining
You'll never hear me complaining, I'm certain the sun will shine

I don't care how the weather vane points
When the weather vane points to gloomy
It's gotta be sunny to me, when your eyes look into mine

{interview} A moment with E...

E ~ Elishia
Artist, Auslan Interpreter, Blogger, Op Shopper, Vintage lover...and more...

admiring: my drawing 'Seen not heard'. It has been framed, is now hanging on my wall and will be staying there! Its pretty exciting as its only the third artwork of mine that I have decided to keep.

remembering: to take each day as it comes and to allow myself as much rest as I need.

discovering: Pear cider. So good!

planning:  A dinner party some time next month. Entree will be pears with blue cheese wrapped in prosciutto, dessert will be home made ice cream. I'm thinking Choc cherry ice cream or Lemon, Vodka and chili sorbet.
Dinner will be selected from my Sean Moran cook book

 learning: my limitations

cooking: This is the time of year when I start doing lots of warm salads.
The last one I made was roasted pumpkin with beans, cucumber and sauteed red onion topped with a balsamic, garlic and thyme dressing with toasted slivered almonds.

loving: The Jacaranda's and Agapanthus that are gracing the streets of Adelaide at the moment

telling your friends about:  how much I miss them (most of my dearest friends live far, far away!)

creating: I'm working on a painting of a young woman surrounded by balloons. The process going to be challenging, exciting and dreadful all at the same.

trying to avoid: the inevitable crash that I get at the end of each year.

laughing at: Black books
"I've got to get a girlfriend, just for the summer, until this wears off. She'll
be a summery girl. She'll have hair. She'll have summery friends who know how to
be outside. She'll play tennis and wear dresses and have bare feet, and in the
autumn, I'll ditch her, because she's my summer girl!"

fixing: I can't really claim to be fixing it personally but I have just gotten someone else to fix my vintage typewriter. I also hemmed (i use the term loosely) some curtains this week, does that count?

eating: I'm addicted to Healthybake Sourdough Rye, fruit, nut and seed bread. I have it with almond paste and strawberry jam. Devine!

missing: The studio my Dad built me in Heyfield. So much. So, so much.

traveling: I'm up to book 13 of 14 in a fantasy series. I call that a journey for sure!

dreaming about:
A less cluttered life and the ability to teleport.

growing: Zen salvaged some Agapanthus plants from a house that was being demolished.
They are now thriving in our garden, some are 5 foot tall! The flower heads are just starting to break free!

watching:
Season 8 of America's So you think you can dance and re-runs of Bones.

odd things about me....   I can't skip.
I love hot banana with melted cheese.
I hate being hand-fed.
I have an intense disliking of hair once its left the body.
I will take down pictures or decorations in a hotel if I don't find them visually pleasing....
...even if I'm only staying for a night.

That's my Elishia.

pretty, pretty things

Here is some loveliness that has been inspiring me or that I have been wanting this week.

This collection of plates at Such Pretty Things has left me unhealthily envious!

My current style crush is on Carrie from WishWishWish. I love the dreaminess of this shoot she did for
Guerlain Shalimar Initial Perfume.

I have wanted this cushion from Etsy for a long time now! Maybe I should just bite the bullet and buy it before someone else does!

I'm always sure to find inspiration at brabourne farm. Such lovliness.

How adorable is this dress?!
Oh for a day by the seaside.

I would squeal with delight if handed a present like this. Too pretty to open!

Hope you are all having a happy Friday! Zen and I are taking a much needed day out together this weekend. We'll have breakfast in bed then head up to the Adelaide Hills for some wine, walks and antiques. I can't wait!
Hope you have a lovely weekend planned.
